I was at that concert. I was in the Navy, stationed at Roosevelt Roads. BOC was great, don’t remember much of Bolton. I tell people I saw him open for BOC, and they don’t believe me.

Very true, but you have to be careful to not price yourself out of the market – education-wise. Because I have an MBA, I’ve been told more time than I can count that I’m “over-qualified” or that the potential employer “cannot afford” me. This is becoming the norm for those with graduate degrees. So, while I encourage as much education as possible, it is more important to ensure you can get a job after graduation and do not become student loan poor.

I had the same reaction. ‘Oh, how lucky we haven’t had an outbreak yet!’. Then I’d remember that they’re talking about zombies. This book would make a really nice serial TV show. Dozens of little stories of the war years.

I’m reading this now. A co-worker loaned me his copy. This book is simultaneously fascinating and depressing. I catch myself thinking I’m glad this hasn’t really happened and then I feel silly.

I applaud your observations about intellectual shortcuts and allowing people to specialize in their field of expertise – to the advatage of the rest of us. I am disappointed that you interpret the asking of questions (to try to be informed and to try to understand) as glibly popping off, screaming and berating. I, for one, just want to know. There has never been a time for blind trust in our politicians. PS I voted for McGovern, Dukakis, Carter, Perot, Clinton and Bush (twice). Not in that order and I know it sounds schizophrenic, but that is what individual choice and, what I call, a “special interest group of one” is all about.

I just read ‘Three Cups of Tea’. It’s about a man who is building schools for boys and girls in Pakistan and Afghanistan. It’s really good…you should read it.

The Pro Keds are the winners so far. If I can find a pair of that exact model in my size, they will be mine.

In the meantime I went back to the well for a pair of more-white-than-white Adidas Rod Laver's. Wearing them is like walking on air. My only problem with them is that they wear out quickly. In six months they'll be little better than house slippers.
