If I were a dog…

We were dog-sitting our friend Sean’s dog this last weekend. His dog is a large dachsund named Frank. Wilson was terrified of Frank the whole first day. If Frank even looked at him, Wilson would run shrieking in the other direction. The second day Wilson was a bit braver, but was still not at ease with the dog. He did a lot of shouting at Frank.

Abby, on the other hand, was delighted to have Frank here. She cuddled with him and let him sit in her lap, and he even slept in her bed. She was so pleased. Here’s a conversation we had concerning Frank:

Abby: Do dogs get married?

Mama: I suppose they sort of do if they are allowed to spend time together.

Abby: I wish I were a dog.

Mama: Why?

Abby: If I were a dog, I’d marry Frank. He’s my dream-dog.

Mama: (stunned silence)

Northwest Samoyed Rescue t-shirts

Northwest Samoyed Rescue, a volunteer, donation-funded group who places samoyed dogs, is selling t-shirts online to raise some money. Supplies are limited to stock on hand.

I bought one of these designs at a samoyed picnic a couple of summers ago and am wearing it at this moment!

Missing samoyeds in north Seattle

Pete and Morrigan, two samoyed dogs are missing in north Seattle. If you see a stray samoyed, please contact me at .

Cyndy Knighton let her dogs out before bedtime about 1:30am Sunday, Jan 1 and about 5 minutes later realized they were gone. She has a secure gate, so the only explanation is that someone intentionally opened it. Conor came back, but Pete and Morrigan are still missing.

Here is a photo of the dogs:

Spread the word

If you have a web log or mailing list, please feel free to post share this information there. Hopefully the dogs are with someone or are lost in the neighborhood and someone we know will see them as people return to work.

[update Monday 2006-01-02]
Both dogs have been found. Big thanks to those who helped with the search.
