Guys, I'm pleased that students are reading the book and discussing it here, but no one is curious about your potty training.

I am currently reading The Westing Game in school and so far I am quite enjoying this book. When we First recieved the book we got a short bio on Ellen Raskin. It told when she was born and when she died. I calculated it in my mind and she wasn't even 60 at her death. I got curious and asked my techer if she knew why Ellen died. She replied to me saying "If you can find out why she died, I'l give you extra credit". Well, I have a 97% average, which is pretty good compared to most of my fellow 8th graders, even though I have always been Good at Language arts.

But you know how things can bug you all day until you know the answer? Yeah, that's what happened. I was searching the web and this page caught my eye with having the most legit info. (Thank God for google!) I would like to thank the creator and writer of the site and this post. It has been very helpful to me.
This is proof that there is much good on the internet still.

Thank you for all the help,

Good to hear from you Lem!

You are correct, this novel isn't "The Great Gatsby" or anything, but I think it's an excellent book for young readers, who are in my opinion an under-served market. It's nice to see a book for young people that doesn't read like a book for young people. This book trusts its readers to dig in and keep up and enjoy themselves.

There are a few educators and parents who read these posts, so if you can spare a minute you might post some of your and Courtney's favorite titles here.

Hi Guys-
By some twist of fate, my daughter Courtney (the younger twin) brought home "The Westing Game" this past year, so I read it when she was finished. She is even more of a bookhound than I was at her age. When we visit gramma's, she gives the grandparents a hug and a kiss and then disappears into the library (also known as my old bedroom) until it's time to leave. She even tries to bury her nose in a book while eating at the dinner table. To be honest, neither of us thought we would read "The Westing Game" again, however, your wholehearted love for it will cause me to rethink my earlier opinion.
Cheers,
Lem
