Backyard camping

One hot day in August the Manisfam decided to go camping. Oh, dear, sweet Manisfam. You actually think you can find a state park campsite for a Northwest summer weekend with two days notice. Romantic fools!

We couldn't find an open campground in the entire state, so we set up camp in the backyard after a meal cooked in our own kitchen and woke with the sun to drive five blocks to a hearty hotcake breakfast from the pancake house. It was Abby and Max's first camping experience, so it was probably for the best that we practiced on our own land first.

Here are a couple of photos of the camping trip. Also a couple of Oompa and Wilson thrown in for good measure.

  1. Try State of Idaho. Summer in Dworshak would be cool. Karin and I will get my mom’s boat and we’ll float into a sweet campsite some few miles from Big Eddy or Freeman Creek. Interested?

  2. Dworshak is the one out past Orifino, no? We will be out Coeur d’Alene (how do those people remember that spelling anyway?) way this summer and in Clark’s town a couple of times, so that could work. I’ll e-mail you.

  3. Cool daddy, cool. Maybe when you’re in Harrison (or wherever) you could take a day trip down to Dworshak. The access is easy. Just park at one of the boat launches, name a time, and we’ll pick you up. It’s always around the Fourth of July that we go and we’ll have a sweet spot picked out, plenty of grub, brew, and everything but the kitchen sink-my mom will have it no other way.
